In 2010 Akron General Health System implemented McKesson Practice Partner EMR as a centralized Electronic Health Record for its physician network. The deployment targeted the hospital owned physician organization and affiliated community physicians in the Akron area, with an explicit plan to provision both clinical documentation and practice management capabilities to outpatient practices.
McKesson Practice Partner EMR was implemented as a fully integrated EHR and practice management solution, with configuration to support electronic documentation, e-prescribing and lab and result exchange. Functional modules included ambulatory clinical charting, e-prescribing workflows and electronic lab result routing, aligned to standard outpatient clinical and administrative workflows.
The implementation was paired with McKesson RelayHealth connectivity to enable secure exchange of prescriptions and laboratory results between the health system and external labs and pharmacies. Implementation and ongoing support services were provided by the McKesson certified reseller Complete HealthCare Solutions, which handled local rollout coordination and technical support for participating physician practices.
Governance focused on extending electronic workflows across the physician hospital organization and affiliated community physicians, standardizing documentation and prescribing processes. The project was explicitly intended to enable electronic documentation, e-prescribing and lab and result exchange through McKesson Practice Partner EMR and RelayHealth connectivity.

In 2018, Akron General Health System deployed Mimecast Email Security. Akron General Health System is using Mimecast Email Security on their website as a Secure Email Gateways (SEGs) control to protect enterprise email traffic across clinical and administrative functions for approximately 5,200 employees.
The implementation emphasizes standard Secure Email Gateways (SEGs) functional modules, including inbound and outbound filtering, spam and malware scanning, URL protection, attachment inspection, and policy-based content controls. Mimecast Email Security was configured with centralized policy management and reporting to enforce corporate email policies and support email continuity and basic archiving features.
Operationally the deployment was integrated into the organization email routing architecture through MX record and SMTP relay routing to channel mail through Mimecast Email Security prior to delivery to internal mailboxes. Ownership and day to day operations fall under IT security and email administration teams responsible for clinical communications, billing correspondence, and corporate messaging.
Governance practices align with centralized policy controls and role based access for security and compliance teams, with established workflows for quarantine review and incident handling. By surfacing Mimecast Email Security on their website Akron General established an externalized perimeter filtering layer to intercept email threats before they reach internal systems.
