In 2015, Albras implemented Oracle Enterprise Asset Management to centralize plant maintenance and asset records, establishing a single application for Enterprise Asset Management across its Barcarena manufacturing operations in Brazil. The deployment focused on using Oracle Enterprise Asset Management to support maintenance and reliability functions for electrical and mechanical systems used in aluminum production.
The implementation configured core EAM capabilities including asset register and hierarchy, work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, spare parts and inventory control, and maintenance planning workflows. Configuration emphasized technical documentation storage and standardized maintenance procedures, and mobile-enabled work order execution was introduced to align technician assignments with on-site corrective and preventive tasks.
Operational coverage targeted maintenance, operations, reliability engineering, and stores teams, with the system capturing assets such as overhead cranes, Atlas Copco compressors, three-phase motors, 900 degree standby ovens, cooling towers, capacitor banks, PLC controllers including Rockwell Logix series, frequency inverters from Weg and Danfoss, ABB robots, conveyor belts, water pumps, and ingot molding machines. The rollout was scoped to the Barcarena site and aligned asset master data to plant equipment types, enabling consistent equipment tagging and maintenance planning across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
Governance changes centered on standardizing the work order lifecycle, establishing planner and technician roles, and instituting preventive maintenance cadences and approval workflows within Oracle Enterprise Asset Management. Training and procedural documentation were emphasized to embed the new maintenance processes into daily operations and to support ongoing reliability and maintenance planning.
