In 2019, Allianz Global Investors UK implemented Bloomberg AIM as its Portfolio and Investment Management platform. The deployment concentrated on new instrument support and development for derivatives and on embedding on venue trading and central counterparty workflows inside Bloomberg AIM to support listed and OTC trading flows.
The implementation encompassed MTF and SEF onboarding through Bloomberg and TradeWeb, CCP onboarding with LCH, ICE and Eurex, and clearing broker onboarding. Functional configuration included CCP collateral management capabilities and tailored derivatives instrument definitions, with the Target Operating Model being designed in parallel to technical configuration.
Business requirements were developed collaboratively with the Investment Office, Traders, IT, Middle Office and Operations, and technical specifications were produced with IT developers to translate requirements into system configuration. The project plan was built and managed by the program team, and development and testing cycles included staged IT development, user acceptance testing and full end to end production testing following rollout criteria.
Operational integrations implemented during the program included direct connectivity between Bloomberg AIM and TradeWeb, CCP links to LCH, ICE and Eurex, onboarding of clearing brokers, and a middle office outsource migration of funds from Northern Trust to State Street for CCP servicing. The programme governance covered regional tranche migrations for middle office services across APAC, UK, France, Germany and USA as part of a broader business transformation.
Bloomberg AIM now functions as the centralized Portfolio and Investment Management application for the specified derivatives, trading venue and clearing workflows at Allianz Global Investors UK, with instrument support, venue and CCP workflows, collateral management and staged middle office migration executed as part of the 2019 implementation.
