In 2021 ALTEC SpA deployed Broadcom Symantec Endpoint Protection to provide Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) coverage across its Turin operations. The implementation established client and server side endpoint protection and centralized policy enforcement as part of an enterprise support engagement that continued with End User Support from 01/10/2022 to 31/12/2023.
Configuration work centered on endpoint agent deployment, policy templates, and centralized signature and telemetry management within Broadcom Symantec Endpoint Protection. Technical activities included client and server side management, integration of group policy objects for Print Servers and Printers, Bitlocker activation removal and key centralization, and Password Lockout Policy enforcement via Keeper. Installation and management of authority certificate requests and an internal CA were implemented to support VPN certificate issuance and validation for internal and external users.
The deployment was integrated with Microsoft infrastructure components in use at ALTEC SpA, including Windows Server 2019, Active Directory on both internal and external domain controllers for user creation and permission assignment, Exchange mail server configuration and management, and endpoints running Windows 10 and 11. Operational tooling used alongside the EDR solution included an internal ticketing system OSS Ticket to track activities, Remote Desktop tools, and DATA Backup Management Software for backup cassette replacement and restoration workflows. The implementation provided client support for Mission Rooms, specifically the Mission Support Center and Engineering Support Center.
Governance and operational control were formalized through documentation control of company assets, and the creation and update of installation and procedure manuals. Windows Admin Center was used for user and computer administration, while procedure documentation and OSS Ticket records provided the audit trail for configuration changes, certificate lifecycle operations, and routine endpoint support tasks.
