In 2004 American Gases Corporation implemented Infonetics Informss, a Distribution ERP deployed on the vendor’s new Linux server platform to support multi-branch distribution operations. The announcement from June 2004 links the deployment to Infonetics Informss version 2.20, a release positioned to scale the application into enterprise installations while still supporting single-user sites, and it specifically cites performance increases sufficient to operate beyond the 100 user point.
Version 2.20 of Infonetics Informss extended functional capacity for inventory management, point-of-sale, purchasing and replenishment, and industrial gas cylinder tracking, and added explicit support for larger numbers of warehouses, users and printers. The implementation emphasis was on standard Distribution ERP workflows for stock control, order processing, POS transaction handling and automated replenishment logic, reflecting category-aligned capabilities for distributors and branch-based retailers.
The technical architecture paired the Infonetics Informss software with Linux server hardware and relied on RITA+VPN as the Internet based branch office connectivity solution to replace dedicated leased-line links. This connectivity approach was used to connect multi-branch customers, reduce WAN provisioning effort, and support remote site access to centralized application services and printing resources.
Rollout and operational governance included INFOGROUP training seminars to educate new and existing users and a coordinated upgrade and upgrade counseling program promoted in vendor communications. The vendor also began targeted marketing to specialty tool and fastener distributors known as STAFDA to expand the customer base. American Gases Corporation was listed among the new customers welcomed during this 2004 expansion.
