In 2021, American Metalcraft deployed WooCommerce on its public website to provide an online sales channel. American Metalcraft uses WooCommerce as the eCommerce platform for its online sales and digital storefront, positioning the application to support catalog presentation, customer checkout and order capture.
The implementation configures standard WooCommerce functional areas, including product catalog and SKU presentation, pricing and promotional controls, shopping cart and checkout workflows, and basic order and inventory management capabilities consistent with eCommerce operations. WooCommerce on the site uses WordPress theme and plugin extensibility to surface product pages, category navigation and checkout flows.
Operationally the deployment covers commercial business functions such as online sales, product merchandising and customer checkout on the company website, with workflows for product content and order handling tied to site operations. The WooCommerce setup exposes integration points common to the eCommerce category, for example payment gateway and shipping rate connectors and web analytics instrumentation, enabling the storefront to interface with external payment and logistics services as needed.
Governance and process changes focus on storefront content ownership and order management procedures, aligning product data maintenance and pricing updates with the web or merchandising team. The implementation scope is limited to the company website and centers on using WooCommerce as the primary eCommerce application to support online ordering and customer engagement.

In 2016 American Metalcraft deployed Plex DemandCaster for Demand Forecasting and Planning to centralize SKU level forecasting and purchasing processes across its buyer organization. The deployment targeted management of 1,353 products and coordination with 10 vendors that account for more than $5,000,000 in annual purchases, aligning demand planning directly with procurement execution.
Plex DemandCaster was configured to support forecast analysis, SKU segmentation, vendor lead time management for vendors with production lead times of 60 days or more, and purchase order execution workflows. Functional capabilities implemented include demand forecasting and cadence planning, purchase order orchestration, and reporting used by buyers to analyze future customer needs and prepare quotes for large customer rollouts.
The implementation was operated alongside Syspro and discrete MRP workflows, with explicit cross‑system use documented through buyer training on DemandCaster, Syspro, reports, and MRP. Operational coverage spanned procurement, sourcing, quality assurance, and IT functions, and the system was used to coordinate stocking for catalog introductions in January and May as well as to manage interactions with both domestic and foreign vendors.
Governance and process changes emphasized buyer training and escalation paths, buyers were responsible for escalating potential vendor issues and cost increases to upper management and for coordinating with sourcing when re‑stocking or re‑sourcing was required. Quality control procedures and claims handling were integrated into the demand planning process, and IT collaborated on testing and deployment of new software systems while new buyers received structured onboarding on Plex DemandCaster.
