| Zetes | Legacy | Zetes Zeus | Real-Time Transportation Visibility | SCM | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018, AMP Belgium implemented Zetes Zeus as its Real-Time Transportation Visibility platform to create a clear real-time overview of distribution processes across the company. The deployment consolidated proof of delivery and proof of collection capabilities to support AMP’s magazine, newspaper and parcel distribution network nationwide.
The Zetes Zeus deployment leveraged two Zetes solutions, ZetesMedea and ZetesChronos, to deliver targeted functional modules. ZetesMedea was configured for acceptance and cross-docking using barcode scanning of totes and integration with automated sorting to complete customer orders. ZetesChronos was configured for Proof of Delivery and Proof of Collection workflows, including route and stop distribution to drivers, PDA-based capture of photos and incident reports, and high-frequency location updates. PDAs were provisioned with camera, GPS and GPRS to enable field-level data capture and real-time status reporting.
Integrations were implemented with AMP’s SAP system and with packing machines AERO and HS News, enabling bidirectional exchange of order, packing and dispatch information. The operational scope covered multiple geographically dispersed distribution centres across Belgium, night-time delivery fleets of approximately 350 lorries, intra-network dispatch between centres, and reverse logistics for unsold returns. A central route monitor recorded PDA GPS coordinates every one to two minutes to provide dispatchers with visibility on driver locations and the ability to insert additional stops when operationally feasible.
Governance and operational change included replacing paper-based operations with electronic POD and POC processes, terminal-based acceptance at each distribution centre, and dispatcher workflows to trace goods through the back-end application. The implementation supported AMP’s Kariboo parcel service reporting obligations to third parties and enabled end-to-end visibility across the supply chain. Operations Director Rolf Vermeulen reported that the solution delivers end-to-end visibility and has become indispensable to AMP’s execution of pickups, deliveries and reverse logistics.
