Amazon Web Services (AWS) Legacy AWS License Manager IT Asset Management (ITAM), SaaS Spend Management IT Asset Management n/a 2018 2018
In 2018, ArcBlock deployed AWS License Manager as its central entitlement and policy engine, aligning the implementation to IT Asset Management (ITAM),SaaS Spend Management use cases. The deployment used AWS License Manager as a native AWS service within ArcBlock’s cloud environment, providing a single pane of glass for software license visibility and control. ArcBlock configured AWS License Manager to provide real time inventory of entitlements, rule definition and enforcement, and policy-driven license tracking. AWS License Manager was used to define and apply usage rules and enforcement across instances and subscriptions, enabling administrative workflows for provisioning, audit readiness, and entitlement reconciliation. Operational responsibility extended to core IT and finance workflows, with governance centered on rule creation, enforcement processes, and role based visibility for stakeholders. Matt McKinney, VP of Marketing at ArcBlock, reported that AWS License Manager made it easier to see current state in real time and improved the company’s ability to optimize and reduce its licensing budget, reflecting both ease of use and cost control outcomes for the organization.
