In 2023, Arcomed AG implemented Abacus PPS for Order Processing, Production Planning & Control and finance to digitalize production workflows in its Switzerland medical device operations. The project began in August 2023 and went live in January 2024, with an explicit focus on serial and UDI traceability and tighter alignment between production and finance processes.
The Abacus PPS deployment comprised core order processing, production planning and control, and finance modules configured to capture lot and serial number information throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. Configuration work emphasized serial and UDI traceability, material traceability workflows, and reduction of manual data entry through structured transaction capture at inventory receipts and work centers.
Operational coverage targeted production, quality and finance functions at Arcomed AG in Switzerland, aligning shop floor data capture with regulatory documentation workflows required by MDR. The implementation centralized production and order status information to maintain traceability from component lots to serialized finished devices, without naming external system integrations.
Governance adjustments formalized documentation flows to support MDR evidence capture and introduced process controls for material handling and traceability during the August 2023 to January 2024 rollout. Stated outcomes included improved material traceability, reduced manual data entry and stronger support for regulatory documentation requirements.
