In 2011, Arete Associates implemented Deltek CostPoint as its ERP Financial system, establishing core financial and program accounting capabilities and a data foundation for earned value workflows. The deployment positioned Deltek CostPoint to supply actual cost and accounting data into program performance processes.
Arete built an Earned Value Management System from the ground up using Deltek Cobra Software, configuring resource, rate, and calendar tables and implementing applicable resource calculations. The implementation included development and maintenance of program schedules in Microsoft Project to feed performance measurement and to support earned value calculations.
The technical implementation included IT-built integration files that extracted actuals from Deltek CostPoint and brought forecasting data from Cognos TM1 into the Cobra-based EVMS. Operational coverage was company-wide, with finance, program management, and project controls adopting the EVMS workflows and data exchanges.
Governance and rollout artifacts comprised an Earned Value Management System Description, software system user training, desktop instructions, and company-wide brown bag informative sessions. The program tracked Earned Value test pilot programs and executed a controlled Earned Value light deployment on the first contract award with requirements, aligning processes and training with the new EVMS.
