In 2018, Armstrong Richardson deployed the Samsara Platform as its Real-Time Transportation Visibility solution across a 54-vehicle fleet serving its agricultural supply, pet and equestrian lines and C&C Horse Transport operations. The deployment targeted fleet telemetry and operational visibility to support delivery responsiveness and field operations across the group of businesses that trace back to the company founded in 1925.
The implementation included Samsara Platform hardware and software components for real-time GPS tracking, HD dash cam footage capture, remote tacho downloads, maintenance insight dashboards and fuel usage reporting. Samsara Platform safety capabilities were configured to surface harsh event alerts and record high definition incident video, enabling structured driver coaching workflows and automated event capture for incident review.
Operational coverage encompassed the companys 54 vehicles, instrumenting route progress monitoring to the second so customer service teams could answer delivery queries with precise location and timing information. Business functions impacted included fleet operations, driver management, maintenance planning, compliance reporting and customer service, with telemetry feeding maintenance insight and fuel reporting to operational teams.
Governance and process changes focused on using dash cam evidence and harsh event alerts to formalize driver coaching and incident review, and on automating remote tacho downloads to streamline hours of service and compliance workflows. Plug and go device design simplified installation and allowed Armstrong Richardson to add units incrementally, maintaining continuous data capture while expanding coverage. The Samsara Platform enabled improved safety, efficiency and customer satisfaction as the stated business objectives for the Real-Time Transportation Visibility deployment.
