In 2011, Aster implemented Infor SunSystems to consolidate financial systems and processes across its seven subsidiaries. The SunSystems deployment followed a three-month implementation, with live operation for 40 finance staff scheduled for April 2011, and established Infor SunSystems as the groups core ERP Financial application.
The implementation emphasized core financial modules including general ledger, flexible reporting and transaction management consistent with ERP Financial workflows. Aster also activated FMS SunSystems iPOS e-procurement user interface for 90 staff to accelerate transactions, streamline approval routing and eliminate manual data entry, reflecting a configuration focused on both backend accounting and user-facing procurement flows.
Integrations were scoped to interface with operational systems, explicitly including job costing for repairs, maintenance and development, to align operational cost capture with finance ledgers. Operational coverage spanned finance and procurement functions across Asters subsidiaries, with integration points designed to ensure transactional flow from job costing into the financial system and to support structured approval workflows.
Governance and process changes centered on de-duplicating and standardising finance processes to achieve process consistency and consistent information across diverse business units. The vendor was selected from a shortlist on the basis of reporting functionality and ease of use, and the documented rollout targeted improved reporting flexibility, productivity improvements, reductions in banking costs and the removal of transactional bottlenecks through electronic procurement and approval automation.

| MHR (formerly MidlandHR) | Legacy | MHR iTrent HR | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2013 | 2014 |
In 2013 Aster implemented MHR iTrent HR as its Core HR system to centralize employee records, payroll and benefits administration for the group. The deployment supported Aster’s UK operations and a headcount of roughly 1,197, positioning MHR iTrent HR as the authoritative HR information system for workforce administration and reporting.
The implementation encompassed core HRIS configuration, payroll processing workflows, pensions administration and benefits management, alongside absence and flexible leave tracking aligned to newly developed flexible leave principles. MHR iTrent HR was used to house and deliver employee data used for pay benchmarking, job evaluation outputs and total reward statements, reflecting typical Core HR functional modules such as employee master data, payroll runs, absence management and HR reporting.
Integrations and operational coverage included coordination between MHR iTrent HR and the Darwin flexible benefits platform, consolidation of health cash plan and life assurance arrangements into the HR ecosystem, and operational links to pensions administration and salary sacrifice arrangements. System stewardship rested with a People Services and Analytics team, a 15-person operational group responsible for HR administration, systems, reporting, payroll, pensions and employee benefits, with the team maintaining the HRIS and producing statutory and internal pay gap analytics.
Governance and process change accompanied the rollout, sponsors actively managed the iTrent vendor relationship and negotiated roadmap and development priorities. The system underpinned reward framework activity, supported a full pay review and job evaluation program, enabled consolidated benefits delivery and contributed to increased employee engagement and connectivity to benefits services as explicitly recorded by Aster.
