In 2008 Autoline Industries implemented QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) as its Manufacturing ERP to support order-to-ship operations for the automotive supplier. The implementation focused on operational shipping and order management functions rather than enterprise scale financial transformations.
QAD Adaptive ERP was configured to ingest EDI releases directly, with staff pulling in EDI releases into QAD and verifying that cums matched per the customer. For customers without EDI, requirements were entered manually into QAD, and the system was used to generate pre-shippers and shipping labels for the next day to enable dock staging. The implementation included creation of shippers when trucks arrived, generation of export paperwork and invoices required for freight, and on-system verification and scanning of shipments.
Integrations and operational linkages were explicit and pragmatic, the QAD instance processed EDI messages and was used to set up shipments through Schneider Logistics for external carrier coordination. Operational coverage centered on the shipping dock and customer communications workflows, with scheduling of trucks for freight not on a daily milkrun and notification flows to the dock person when requirements changed.
Governance and daily operating procedures were embedded in the QAD-driven workflow, teams checked daily requirements for changes and notified the shipping dock person to enable timely adjustments. Staff responsibilities included contacting customers when issues arose, assisting on the shipping dock as needed, and orchestrating order fulfillment through the QAD Adaptive ERP driven shipping processes.
