In 2011, Axis Business Insight implemented Cisco Unified Communications Manager for Audio Video and Web Conferencing. The deployment established call control and IP telephony across five sites and within a broader European network footprint, positioning Cisco Unified Communications Manager as the central platform for voice and conferencing services.
Configuration work focused on call processing, call routing, and contact center interoperability, with explicit administration of Cisco Call Manager Express and Aspect ACD/IP Telephony for automatic call distribution. Engineers designed and implemented inbound and outbound call flows and integrated carrier call routing using cloud-based platforms operated by COLT, BT, and Virgin.
The solution architecture integrated with LAN switching, routers, WAN MPLS links, Cisco Firewalls, and Cisco Wireless infrastructure, and operated alongside endpoint security and encryption management using Sophos and Triton Web Security. Implementation activities included planning, implementation, and testing for maintenance and upgrades to IP telephony platforms, plus asset refresh programs and operating system upgrade cycles for desktop and telephony endpoints across multiple sites.
Operational governance was centered on a Network and Telecoms Engineer providing 3rd line advanced support and 24 hour on-call coverage for WAN and telephony services, with documented processes for maintenance, upgrades, and incident response. Daily collation, analysis, and distribution of telephony and contact center reports were produced using Crystal Reports and Report Runner/Writer to support operational monitoring and call flow management.
