Texada Legacy Texada SRM Rental Management System ERP Services and Operations n/a 2011 2011
In 2011, Babcock & Wilcox Canada implemented Texada SRM, a Rental Management System. The engagement included upgrading the Texada SRM database and application software and provisioning virtual Windows Server 2008 R2 application hosts and dedicated SQL servers to support the rental management workload. The implementation delivered new user functions within Texada SRM and involved explicit configuration of database security, promotion of developer code to test and production SQL and web servers, and virtualization-based deployment. Systems administration work extended to Active Directory and NTFS security, Exchange account lifecycle control, Group Policy Objects to control password caching, and SharePoint and wireless network administration as part of the operational baseline. Operational integration reflected day to day IT operations, with logging of support activity in the HelpMaster helpdesk system and co-management of level 1 and level 2 support for local and remote users. Backup architecture moved toward SAN backups over tape, and the team fully repaired manufacturing software disrupted by new security policies while enabling the Texada SRM application to support revised user workflows. Governance and process changes included co-authoring procedures to eliminate hard copy security forms and formalizing email-based document flows. Explicit outcomes recorded during the period include finishing the Texada SRM upgrade on time with 100 percent customer satisfaction, a 50 percent reduction in external printing costs, a two day reduction in file restore times using SAN backups, and a 10 percent reduction in software licenses through yearly audits.
