IBM Legacy IBM AS/400 ERP Financial ERP n/a 2017 2017
In 2017, Berkshire e-Supply implemented IBM AS/400 as its ERP Financial system. The deployment was positioned to support purchasing and inventory control across the company's distribution network and headquarters, including distribution centers in Detroit, Los Angeles and Houston, and the Novi office. The IBM AS/400 implementation centered on purchasing and replenishment workflows, leveraging a Forecasting Module alongside core ERP transaction processing. Functional capabilities explicitly supported included creation and processing of purchase orders for branch requisitions and customer direct deliveries, automated stock replenishment calculations, inventory returns to vendors, pricing and freight policy enforcement, and PO scheduling and tracking. Integrations were oriented toward operational interoperability between the IBM AS/400 ERP Financial system and the Forecasting Module, and the solution operated as the transactional backbone for Purchasing, Warehousing and Accounting teams. Day to day operational coverage included procurement negotiation and vendor pricing updates, coordination with Product Managers and Sales on promotional inventory, and supply chain inventory visibility across over 1,000 suppliers and a catalog exceeding one million SKUs. Governance and process structure emphasized Purchasing team ownership with the Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Agents as primary users, supported by cross functional workflows for back order resolution and discrepancy reconciliation with Warehousing and Accounting. Configuration and role based workflows were implemented to enforce vendor credit returns, maximize pricing and freight programs, and to standardize scheduling and tracking of purchase orders across the enterprise.
