In 2017, Beutel, Goodman & Company implemented CGI Wealth360 from CGI Group as a centralized platform for model portfolio management and trade execution. CGI Wealth360 was adopted to support the firm’s Asset and Wealth Management operations around separately managed accounts and master model alignment.
The deployment focused on model management and trade execution capabilities, with configuration to maintain 65 model portfolios sourced from 14 SMA partners and to keep Beutel Goodman master portfolios in lock-step with partner master models. Functional workflows implemented include model templating and change propagation, portfolio rebalancing and trade calculation, client and regulatory reporting, and compliance monitoring, with Excel-based templates and advanced spreadsheet functions used to accelerate model change delivery.
Integrations in the operational environment include explicit connectivity and trade execution workflows with Envestnet, GWP, and RBC Capital Markets, and reporting data feeds augmented by Eikon and other internal sources. Operational scope spans Portfolio Administration, Portfolio Management, Compliance, Legal, and client reporting teams based in Toronto, Canada, and supports oversight of approximately eight billion dollars in third party AUM linked to the SMA program.
Governance and process controls were formalized through annual and quarterly compliance reporting procedures requiring Chief Compliance Officer signoff, a comprehensive compliance review of all 65 model accounts to capture investment policy restrictions, and coordinated contractual amendment workflows across legal, compliance and asset management. Outcomes documented in implementation activities include an improvement in the speed and accuracy of delivering model changes by up to 50 percent and a restructuring of monthly and quarterly client reporting that materially reduced transmission time and errors.
