In 2011, Biancamano implemented Barracuda Managed XDR as its Extended Detection and Response (XDR) solution to centralize detection and incident handling across the corporate IT estate. The deployment was led from the Biancamano Spa IT management team in Assago, Lombardy, and aligned with ongoing infrastructure administration responsibilities that began in July 2011 and continue under the IT Manager and System Administrator role.
Barracuda Managed XDR was configured to provide centralized detection, incident triage, threat hunting, and response orchestration consistent with Extended Detection and Response (XDR) capabilities. Configuration work focused on ingesting telemetry from endpoints and network devices, aligning alerting thresholds with existing endpoint management processes, and establishing investigation workflows and playbooks to support security operations and IT support teams.
The XDR implementation integrated with the organizations on‑premises and cloud messaging environment, including Exchange on Premises and Office 365, and with existing security infrastructure such as Fortinet firewalls and the Barracuda spam firewall. Operational coverage extended into the virtual environment managed on VMware, Windows and Linux domain administration, LAN and WAN networks in a Cisco and HP environment, and VPN management, enabling security event correlation across network, email, and endpoint sources.
Governance and operationalization were driven by internal vendor and resource management practices, development of functional procedures, and coordinated IT services support and assistance activities. Rollout and ongoing operations emphasized infrastructure maintenance, software update planning, and adherence to project objectives and budgetary controls overseen by the IT Manager and System Administrator.
