In 2020 Bimbo Canada implemented IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management platform. The deployment targeted the Hamilton Ontario production site that operates seven production lines and centralized maintenance functions for Canada’s largest bakery business.
IBM Maximo was configured to manage maintenance inventory and work order processes, with explicit use cases for inventory management, parts planning and preventive maintenance scheduling. The implementation supported cycle counting and inventory adjustment workflows for more than 5,000 SKUs and tracked maintenance inventory valued at approximately 3.3 million dollars, while enabling work order creation and closure for corrective and preventive tasks. System capabilities were applied to purchase and procure parts according to planned work orders and to capture KPIs for maintenance inventory and work order completion within IBM Maximo.
Operational governance integrated maintenance, production, quality and shipping teams, with direct reporting into the maintenance and plant managers to coordinate assignments and priorities. Day to day execution used IBM Maximo to assign and manage work orders for a maintenance workforce of roughly 50 millwrights and to monitor PM and CM completion rates across the facility. The deployment emphasized standardizing inventory control, parts requisition and work order workflows under the Enterprise Asset Management system to improve cross functional coordination.
