In 2015, Blu Wireless implemented Cadence Xcelium Parallel Logic Simulation to operationalize top level SoC integration and verification. The Cadence Xcelium Parallel Logic Simulation implementation was positioned within the company toolset supporting ML and Data Science Platforms related engineering automation and test generation.
The implementation scope centered on integration of full SoC design elements, sub blocks, interconnect fabrics and third party IP using SystemC and Verilog, with an emphasis on top level testbench orchestration and functional tests for peripherals such as I2C, SPI and Flash controller interfaces. Test development included directed functional tests and stimulus harnesses to validate peripheral interfaces and interconnect behavior at the SoC level.
Toolchain and integration work included operational use of Cadence Incisive and Cadence Xcelium Parallel Logic Simulation for parallel logic simulation, Mentor Questa for additional verification flows and GTKWave for waveform inspection. The simulation environment consumed third party IP and interconnect models, and was exercised through SystemC and RTL simulation modes to validate cross language integration.
Governance and automation responsibilities were consolidated under a python based auto generation schema and templating system that read YAML sources and generated CPPs, Verilog and HTML artifacts, enabling repeatable testbench instantiation and documentation outputs. Verification ownership included low level debug access through IEEE Standard 1149.1 JTAG interfaces, driving the TAP controller for debug ports and operating MBIST boundary scan cells for structural observability and diagnosability.
