In 2022, Bluecross & Blueshield Uruguay deployed Mitek IDLive Voice to introduce voice biometric authentication into customer messaging and appointment booking workflows. The implementation sits in the Identity and Access Management (IAM) category and is focused on authenticating customers within WhatsApp chatbot conversations for healthcare appointment scheduling and CRM interactions.
The deployment used Mitek IDLive Voice alongside ID R&D voice biometric capabilities to capture passive voice liveness and perform biometric matching during conversational authentication. Functionally the solution replaced PIN and OTP based authentication methods with passive voice liveness and biometric matching, enabling passwordless flows and friction reduction in phone free digital channels.
Integration architecture routed voice capture through Simpletech’s Wittybots WhatsApp chatbot, which orchestrated authentication calls to Mitek IDLive Voice and returned verified identity tokens into the messaging flow. Operational coverage targeted customer service and appointment booking processes, with verified identity assertions delivered into the insurer’s messaging and CRM workflows to authorize transactions and schedule appointments.
Rollout and governance were coordinated with Simpletech as the systems integrator, and the initiative was publicly announced in August 2022. The project explicitly aimed to reduce friction and secure messaging transactions by moving authentication to passive voice biometrics within conversational channels.
