Cayenta Legacy Cayenta ERP ERP Financial ERP n/a 2012 2012
In 2012, Bryan Texas Utilities implemented Cayenta ERP as an ERP Financial application to centralize utility billing and customer account management across the organization. The deployment was executed as an enterprise-wide Cayenta ERP and CRM program, with the project team authoring complex cross-functional use cases to validate end-to-end billing and customer service processes prior to cutover. Configuration work focused on billing and CRM modules within Cayenta ERP, and on data migration tooling and validation. Senior IT staff developed a large suite of high-performance SQL procedures to validate and reconcile migrated billing data, reducing validation runtime from weeks to hours during the Go-Live weekend. Reporting and analytics were integrated with Crystal Reports and MS SQL as enterprise reporting stores to support operational and financial reporting from Cayenta ERP. The implementation was executed alongside virtualization and systems consolidation efforts, integrating Cayenta ERP data flows with existing energy systems platforms including SE Data, SoftSmiths and Oracle 9 database servers where explicitly required. These systems and reporting servers were migrated and validated on Oracle VM virtual infrastructure, and Oracle VM performance tuning reduced critical billing processing from multi-day runs to hourly windows, improving operational service levels. Governance emphasized rigorous test case coverage and formal approval gates for the production cutover, with the IT team responsible for data validation and final switching authorization to the new ERP environment. Explicit outcomes recorded during the broader program included realized infrastructure savings from virtualization exceeding 300k, accelerated billing runtimes, and tighter integration between Cayenta ERP, customer service applications and enterprise reporting stacks that supported approved rollout and ongoing operations.
