In 2008, Byrd-Watson implemented Compusolve for Pharmacy Management. The implementation supported a single-store retail pharmacy operation with approximately 30 employees in the United States, and targeted core counter workflows including patient consultation, order intake, verification, stocking, telephone handling, and delivery scheduling.
Compusolve was configured to manage order input and verification workflows, and to record patient consultation interactions and dispensing transactions consistent with Pharmacy Management functional requirements. Day-to-day pharmacy duties performed through the application included order entry and verification, inventory-related stocking actions, and scheduling of deliveries, indicating the system was used for both transactional dispensing and operational task coordination.
The deployment integrated inventory control processes with McKesson for inventory management, while Compusolve handled order verification and operational scheduling at the pharmacy counter. Operational governance was practitioner driven, with pharmacists and staff executing verification and consultation workflows in Compusolve as part of standard daily procedures, and telephone and delivery scheduling managed through the same application environment.
