In 2020, Carbon Black deployed Oracle NetSuite Revenue Recognition to address ASC 606 accounting requirements, prioritizing finance automation and compliance. The implementation was executed with RSM Canada and centered on NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management and Multi-Book functionality to support full retrospective recasting of prior transactions and automated revenue arrangements.
The deployment configured Oracle NetSuite Revenue Recognition modules to automate revenue arrangements, apply Multi-Book rules, and produce deferred and unbilled revenue visibility for accounting close processes. NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management capabilities were used to shift manual spreadsheet workflows into system-driven recognition schedules and to standardize revenue event processing across the finance function.
The engagement included advisory support for external auditors, aligning recognition schedules and recast activity with audit requirements and providing documentation to support ASC 606 adoption. Governance changes focused on updating revenue recognition workflows and accounting close controls, with RSM Canada providing implementation and advisory services throughout the rollout.
Carbon Black implemented Oracle NetSuite Revenue Recognition as an EPM solution for finance, resulting in automated revenue recognition, improved reporting on deferred and unbilled revenue, and reduced manual Excel work as documented by RSM. The work consolidated revenue accounting processes under the Oracle NetSuite Revenue Recognition application and aligned finance operations with ASC 606 reporting needs.
