In 2013, Carlson, Inc implemented Kofax MarkView to streamline accounts payable within its U.S. shared services organization. The deployment targeted AP Automation and was scoped to handle more than 3.3 million invoices per year processed for Carlson operating units in the United States.
The implementation of Kofax MarkView centralized invoice capture and automated the end to end AP workflow, including optical capture, validation, coding enforcement, routed approvals and a persistent audit trail. Kofax MarkView was configured to improve controls and accuracy while reducing manual indexing and exception handling, enabling a more automated invoice-to-payment lifecycle.
Kofax MarkView was integrated closely with Carlson’s Oracle ERP to enable fast resolution of invoice exceptions and tighter transaction-level controls. The workflow routing was configured to include only transaction participants, simplifying approvals and providing a direct return-to-AP mechanism that removed intermediate error queues.
Governance and process changes accompanied the technical rollout, with MarkView enforcing coding and approval-level compliance to support auditability. The solution provided visibility that reduced auditor testing scope, and the AP organization eliminated external outsourcing by consolidating work inside the shared services team.
Results documented by Carlson include a greater than threefold increase in AP efficiency, an accuracy rate rising to 99.9% in reported periods, a reduction in headcount required to process invoices from 17 to five FTEs for the same workload, and a payback on the MarkView investment in less than one year.

In 2005 Carlson, Inc deployed Automation Centre Time Tracker as its Time and Attendance solution to capture and report project hours within the US IS organization. The deployment focused on embedding a Lotus Notes time-card template to standardize time entry for project work and support structured approval routing.
Automation Centre Time Tracker was configured to provide core time capture, approval workflow routing, project hour reporting, and automated generation of billing slips. Functional modules implemented included time-card data entry within Lotus Notes, approval workflows routed through Lotus Notes, and reporting capabilities to produce billable-time summaries for accounting review.
Integrations tied the Automation Centre Time Tracker directly into Carlson’s Lotus Notes project management environment, and approvals were integrated with accounting and reporting systems to feed billing slip generation and project reporting. Operational scope explicitly covered the US IS organization and linked project management, IS operations, and accounting functions to a single time and attendance workflow.
Governance centered on Lotus Notes templates and routed approvals to enforce consistent capture and signoff, enabling automated handoff to accounting for billing slip production. The implementation improved billable-time capture and reporting for Carlson’s US IS organization as described on the vendor case page.
