In 2017 Center for Discovery implemented Oracle NetSuite ERP as its ERP Financial platform to consolidate back-office finance and accounting functions across the behavioral health services organization. The Center for Discovery is a private equity backed, acquisitive and growth oriented behavioral health company serving eating disorder, mental health and substance use disorder patients in residential and outpatient settings, with approximately 1,800 employees in the United States. The NetSuite deployment was positioned to centralize corporate controller processes and standardize financial workflows across acquired sites.
The Oracle NetSuite ERP implementation focused on core financial modules such as general ledger, accounts payable, and expense reporting, alongside revenue accounting and financial close orchestration that are typical for ERP Financial systems. Configuration work included chart of accounts harmonization, accounts payable workflow standardization for trade A P processing, and expense report automation to reduce manual reconciliation. The deployment also incorporated lease accounting controls and integration points to support ASC 842 compliance.
Integrations were implemented with Concur for expense report and trade A P processing, NetLease for lease accounting and ASC 842 compliance, and with a new EMR and billing system to align clinical billing and revenue cycle inputs with the general ledger. Operational coverage emphasized finance, accounts payable, corporate controller functions and revenue cycle touchpoints spanning residential and outpatient business units. Data and process orchestration connected clinical billing outputs to Oracle NetSuite ERP to enable centralized posting and consolidated financial reporting.
Governance and rollout were led by finance leadership and the corporate controller, who instituted procedural changes and tighter control points to standardize workflows and support the consolidating acquisition strategy. The organization implemented accompanying procedural and system changes, including Concur and NetLease, to become more efficient and add value in back office operations.

In 2022, Center for Discovery deployed Kipu EMR as its core Electronic Health Record to support clinical and patient engagement workflows across its eating disorder treatment sites. The deployment emphasizes patient-facing access and secure communication, aligning the Kipu EMR implementation with HIPAA requirements and additional security guidelines required by the organization’s eating disorder facility licensure.
The Kipu EMR implementation includes a patient portal powered by KIPU Health’s CRM platform, enabling patients to access their treatment plans, complete outcome measures, view medications, and electronically sign documents. Functional capabilities implemented reflect Electronic Health Record patterns, including medication visibility and medication management workflows, treatment plan access for clinical continuity, outcome measure collection for clinical assessment, and integrated e-signature and document management tied to patient records.
Operational coverage centers on admissions and clinical teams, with the admitting facility responsible for patient onboarding and account activation via an emailed registration link. The patient portal supports access from computer and mobile devices, and the underlying communication layer is described as secure and encrypted to meet HIPAA and licensure security requirements. The implementation naturally organizes patient consent and document signing workflows through portal-driven acceptance of Terms of Service and Privacy Policy at account creation.
Governance for the Kipu EMR deployment is expressed through portal-based consent flows and facility-level onboarding procedures, ensuring that document execution and outcome measure submissions are captured within the Electronic Health Record. The Kipu EMR patient portal design centralizes patient engagement functions and clinical intake tasks while preserving encrypted communications and role-based access tied to admitting and clinical staff responsibilities.
