In 2018 Central Securities Clearing System Nigeria completed an October pilot using Quartz, the TCS Quartz Blockchain solution, with Standard Bank to enable cross border corporate action data exchange. Quartz was deployed as a Blockchain Platform provided by Tata Consultancy Services and the engagement targeted post trade and corporate actions messaging between Nigerian and South African market participants.
The pilot architecture integrated TCS BaNCS nodes in a coexistent topology with Quartz, configuring BaNCS node capabilities to exchange corporate action information across the BaNCS Network. Functional capability exercised included corporate action data exchange, event propagation and information sharing workflows implemented via the Quartz Blockchain Platform. The implementation focused on secure, auditable corporate action messaging as part of post trade processes.
Operational scope covered Nigeria and South Africa and impacted post trade operations and corporate actions teams, demonstrating cross border real time information sharing between market infrastructure participants. Governance and rollout remained at pilot level in October 2018, with architecture centered on coexistence and message orchestration between TCS BaNCS nodes and the Quartz environment for corporate action data exchange.
