Sage Legacy Sage 100 (formerly MAS 90 & MAS 200) ERP Financial ERP n/a 2008 2008
In 2008, Challenger Sports implemented Sage 100 (formerly MAS 90 & MAS 200) as its ERP Financial application to centralize finance and accounting workflows across a multi-site environment. The deployment supported approximately 230 users across 15 sites and was managed by a single IT lead who combined systems administration with project and user support responsibilities. The implementation concentrated on core ERP Financial capabilities, with configuration focused on general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and order-processing workflows to support back-office finance, procurement and operational inventory control. User enablement and adoption programs were formalized, delivered through in-person lecture and Q&A sessions, e-conference trainings, an IT newsletter, and custom written or video how-tos to standardize procedures and reduce support load. Sage 100 was operated on an on-premises infrastructure administered by the internal IT lead, leveraging Windows Servers, VMWare virtualization, and EMC SAN storage, with backups maintained via Veeam, tape, and Symantec Backup Exec. Operational support and integrations extended to enterprise infrastructure components the IT lead managed, including Watchguard firewalls, Avaya and 8x8 VOIP telephony systems, hosted email providers and a G Suite domain, network switching and wireless from Ubiquiti, multifunction printers, and security cameras, with network diagrams and physical cabling maintained for multi-site consistency. Governance and service management were established alongside the Sage 100 rollout, including creation and maintenance of IT policies, a Helpdesk for issue tracking and end-user support, KnowBe4 phishing testing and training, and formal liaison with the Sage business partner as the onsite technical contact. The IT lead also conducted telecom and software asset management audits, negotiated vendor contracts, supervised interns, and instituted documentation and process changes to consolidate functions and reduce system redundancy. Outcomes reported by the organization included achieved annual recurring savings in excess of $115,000 and measurable improvements in systems availability, security posture, and user efficiency, driven by consolidation of services, standardized support workflows and low-cost optimization measures.
