In 2025, Cimolai Technology implemented Siemens Xcelerator as its Product Lifecycle Management platform. The program targeted management of very large assemblies for custom handling and lifting machinery used in marinas, shipyards, infrastructure, and heavy industry, and aimed to improve collaboration between engineering and production teams. Deployment included Siemens NX for CAD and Teamcenter for PLM, with Designcenter NX configured to represent highly complex, large-scale products and allow detailed component inspection and comparison. Teamcenter was configured to centralize bills of materials, revision control, lifecycle workflows, and engineering change management consistent with Product Lifecycle Management functional practices. Cimolai worked with ATS Global to integrate Siemens Xcelerator with the company’s existing ERP systems, establishing data flows between engineering BOMs in Teamcenter and manufacturing and procurement records in ERP. The integration connected engineering and manufacturing processes and extended PLM data access to production planners and project delivery teams across the company’s manufacturing and installation operations. Governance and process changes accompanied the rollout, including standardized lifecycle workflows, centralized data stewardship in Teamcenter, and role based access controls to align design and shop floor responsibilities. Cimolai reported that Designcenter NX provided immediate access to specific design details, and the overall implementation was positioned to manage assemblies more efficiently and improve cross team collaboration between engineering and production.
