In 2017, C&O Nursery implemented Acumatica Cloud ERP- Payroll, deploying Acumatica Cloud ERP- Payroll as a Payroll cloud ERP to centralize payroll and support its seasonal agricultural workforce. The deployment followed years of running Microsoft Dynamics GP for accounting alongside an Access 97 based inventory tool, and the initiative focused on unifying financials, inventory and payroll into a single browser-based system. The implementation configured Acumatica Distribution Edition modules including Advanced Financial management, Inventory Management and Order Management, together with Acumatica Payroll to manage complex pay rules for piece-rate and hourly seasonal workers. The company instrumented inventory workflows to handle living product lifecycles, recording growth-stage attributes such as stem width and height and using virtual warehouses labeled by year to allocate future-year orders and track attrition across multi-year growth cycles. PC Bennett Solutions provided customizations leveraging Acumatica’s .NET architecture so the system could reflect nursery-specific processes, and the solution accepted third-party time capture to feed payroll. Operational coverage spanned the Wenatchee, Washington headquarters and nearby field operations, enabling mobile access so sales and field staff could answer customer inventory inquiries in real time, while payroll processed seasonal headcount swings from typical full-time staffing into peak seasons with several hundred temporary workers. Governance and process changes included consolidating order, royalty and commission traceability inside Acumatica and eliminating manual duplicate entry between inventory and accounting. Explicit outcomes documented by the customer include connected business systems, improved inventory visibility aligned to C&O’s nursery model, a flexible Payroll capability that met seasonal agriculture requirements, online inventory access for customers and sales, and simplified royalty tracking to support audits.
