The deployment targeted the firm’s AR Automation needs and was positioned to operate alongside CSK’s Aderant financial software to preserve existing billing and ledger workflows.
The implementation used DadePay Cash Application capabilities to automate capture of remittance data from ACH transactions and mailed checks, to generate payments for invoices received by mail, and to prompt users to collect missing remittance details from client portals or other sources. Configuration emphasized automated payment creation, exception prompting for incomplete remittance, and generation of archival output for the firm’s Expert Image repository.

Operational scope centered on the finance organization and accounts receivable teams, with the solution instrumenting cash application workflows used across billing and collections functions at the firm.
Governance and process changes included routing exceptions to staff for rapid remediation and adjusting AR workflows to support same-day application. Reported outcomes included reducing cash application time from two to three days to same-day, improved ability to scale existing staff for growth, and a drastic reduction in errors, reversals, and rebilling, which improved customer experience.

In 2008 Cole, Scott & Kissane implemented Aderant Expert as the firm’s core Legal Practice Management application to standardize billing and financial workflows across its practice. The implementation was managed through the firm’s Financial Systems Administrator role and positioned Aderant Expert as the primary system for time capture, billing and accounting within the firm’s professional services operations.
Configuration work emphasized financial and timekeeping modules, including Expert time billing, core accounting functions and management reporting. The firm performed customization and testing of accounting workflows, developed instructional materials, and maintained ongoing configuration updates, aligning Aderant Expert functionality with firm accounting procedures and timekeeper practices.
Operational integrations included electronic billing websites and client guideline compliance workflows referenced during user training, along with coordination around Aderant Expert CMS capabilities and in-house developed software used by finance staff. Deployment and support covered firm timekeepers and management, with the Financial Systems Administrator traveling to outside offices to educate end users and enforce consistent billing and accounting processes.
Governance was structured around a single point of contact in the Financial Systems Administrator, who acted as the liaison to Aderant support for planning upgrades, resolving program issues and coordinating testing and customization. Training and rollout combined instructor-led in person sessions and distance learning via WebEx, and the administrator prepared monthly firm management reports and provided one on one consultations with timekeepers and management to drive adoption.
The firm coordinated a focused rollout of Expert time billing to end users during March 2016 to September 2016 as part of ongoing platform expansion, and has maintained continuous support and upgrade planning through the Financial Systems Administrator. Aderant Expert remains the operational Legal Practice Management platform supporting billing, accounting and management reporting for Cole, Scott & Kissane.
