In 2013, Colquitt EMC US licensed Apex CoVantage's ProField technology to manage a large Landis+Gyr Gridstream AMI meter exchange of roughly 65,000 meters across a seven-county service area in South Georgia. The deployment used Aclara ProField as the field application for mobile workforce management and field data capture, with a primary focus on field operations and AMI installations.
Implementation centered on Aclara ProField modules for mobile workforce management and field data capture, including handheld barcode scanning, GPS stamping, and photo documentation capabilities to record meter exchanges and installation evidence. Configuration emphasized job assignment, route sequencing, and field validation workflows to support meter swap, verification, and acceptance steps common to AMI meter exchange programs.
The project coordinated directly with Landis+Gyr Gridstream AMI meter exchange activities across the seven-county service territory, operating at the field crew level to synchronize installations and capture as-built data in the field. Operational scope covered South Georgia field operations and AMI installations, with ProField used as the primary mobile data collection and crew orchestration tool.
Governance changes aligned work assignment and documentation practices to the new mobile capture processes, with supervisors leveraging barcode, GPS, and photo evidence to audit completed exchanges and drive completion velocity. The engagement explicitly sought to streamline meter exchanges, improve accuracy through barcode GPS and photo documentation, and accelerate project completion.
