In 2009, Cooperative Financial Services (inc Co op Bank) implemented Fiserv First Data Credit Card Processing and Payment Solution. The deployment installed Fiserv First Data Credit Card Processing and Payment Solution as the bank's core Payment Processing platform for credit card authorization, transaction switching, clearing and settlement workflows, establishing a single processing spine for the card portfolio.
The implementation configured standard Payment Processing functional modules including real time authorization routing, switching and network connectivity, batch clearing and settlement, reconciliation and reporting, and dispute and chargeback lifecycle handling. The architecture integrated the bank's card services platform out to First Data processing endpoints for external network routing and settlement while retaining hosted processing control within the bank's operations environment.
Operational ownership was concentrated in the card operations and payments operations teams, with configuration governance applied to BIN routing, authorization rules and reconciliation workflows. Rollout included updates to incident and exception handling processes and formalized operational handoffs to customer service and payments reconciliation groups, aligning enterprise workflows to the new Fiserv First Data Credit Card Processing and Payment Solution Payment Processing capabilities.

In 2007, Cooperative Financial Services (inc Co op Bank) initiated a Core Banking program centered on Infosys Finacle and produced architectural roadmaps for central functions including Desktop, Finance, HR, Membership and Marketing. The work was driven from an interim Head of IT Architecture role that consolidated strategic planning across central functions and the broader banking platform initiative.
Design work produced detailed blueprints for re-platforming CRM, Marketing and Data Management to Infosys Finacle, accompanied by a core type data model for the retail bank to standardize data definitions across solution designs. A Master Data Management strategy for customer data and an Analytical Data Integration strategy were developed to drive the high level design of the proposed banking platform. Proposals included enterprise ETL using Datastage, an ESB based on Websphere Message Broker, and Teradata as the data warehouse to operationalize the data strategies.
Architectural support extended into acquisition activities with Lloyds, where the team developed an acquisition application defender position and provided short term chief architect coverage for Customer, ATM and Branch systems. The Analytical Data Integration (ADI) approach was explicitly used to shape integration patterns and the high level architecture for platform replacement components linking branch, ATM and central systems.
Governance and program controls were instantiated through a business led data governance committee, with active architectural membership guiding Master Data Management and customer master design in the banking transformation programme. An architecture framework was defined to ensure consistent divestment definitions for the Life Business to potential buyers, and the team subsequently led the development of the IT infrastructure strategy and roadmap in 2009.

In 2007 Cooperative Financial Services (inc Co op Bank) implemented Teradata Integrated Data Warehouse as the Data Warehouse to centralize analytical integration and customer master data capabilities for CRM, Marketing, Finance and HR. The Teradata Integrated Data Warehouse was positioned to support the Analytical Data Integration strategy and to provide a stabilized enterprise reporting and analytics layer for central functions and transformation programs.
The implementation incorporated an Analytical Data Integration ADI strategy, a core type data model for the retail bank to enforce consistent data definitions, and a Master Data Management strategy for customer data. The program proposed an enterprise ETL stack based on Datastage and an ESB using Websphere Message Broker to populate and orchestrate the Teradata data warehouse, aligning ETL, canonical modeling and master data capabilities with the bank's analytical requirements.
Operational coverage targeted central functions including Desktop, Finance, HR, Membership and Marketing, with short term chief architect responsibilities extending to Customer, ATM and Branch applications during acquisition activities. The design work included blueprints for re-platforming CRM, Marketing and Data Management to Finacle, and the ADI strategy was explicitly used to drive high level design for relevant elements of the proposed banking platform replacement.
Governance and architecture controls were formalized through the introduction of a business led data governance committee, with active participation from the implementation team to enforce data definitions and stewardship. Architecture deliverables also included an acquisition application defender position for Lloyds engagement and an architecture framework to ensure consistent divestment definition for the Life Business, and the lead architect contributed to the IT infrastructure strategy and roadmap developed in 2009.
