Modula Legacy Modula WMS Warehouse Management SCM n/a 2008 2008
In 2008 Costruzione Strumenti Oftalmici implemented Modula WMS as a Warehouse Management solution to address storage density and order picking constraints in its optical products production site. The deployment centered on vertical storage units to centralize inventory handling and streamline picking and replenishment workflows across the factory. Modula WMS was delivered through Modula vertical solutions equipped with sliding console mechanisms, automatic and manual doors, partitions, dividers, tray extensions and slotted tray walls, providing tray-level organization and retrieval capabilities. These functional modules enabled structured tray-based picking and automated retrieval sequences consistent with Warehouse Management operational patterns, improving handling of raw materials and finished components. The physical architecture placed vertical warehouses across multiple factory floors, with picking and pouring bays positioned at different heights to localize pick zones and recover floor space. Operational scope included warehouse operations and production support, with inventory control and order picking processes reorganized to exploit vertical density and reduce horizontal storage footprint. The implementation of Modula WMS produced explicit outcomes for CSO, including increased volume of withdrawals, higher production throughput and improved flexibility, space recovery and management of goods and picking. The project expanded over time, with CSO purchasing an additional Modula unit in 2013, reflecting a staged rollout and continued investment in vertical Warehouse Management capacity.
