In 2018, Couche-Tard implemented Workday Payroll to centralize enterprise payroll processing under its Payroll department. The deployment focused on a centralized payroll operations model with day to day processing executed by payroll clerks reporting to a Senior Payroll Manager in Laval, Quebec, and operational workflows instrumented directly in Workday Payroll for payroll calculations, data validation, corrections, and Record of Employment processing. The implementation is aligned with the Payroll category and supports standard payroll functional terminology such as payroll calculation, payroll adjustments, audit trails, employee pay data management, and ROE generation.
Operational modules and capabilities emphasized in practice include payroll calculation and correction workflows, ROE management and submission logic, and payroll data analysis. The environment supports routine tasks recorded in job operations such as analyzing payroll dates, performing payroll data corrections in Workday Payroll, preparing Records of Employment, and communicating results by email, with ROE submission routed to Service Canada as part of the operational process. Governance is managed through payroll team workflows under the Senior Payroll Manager, with controls on confidentiality, deadline adherence, and use of Microsoft Office for reporting and reconciliation.

In 2013, Couche-Tard implemented Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) under the Analytics and BI category to establish an enterprise OLAP and reporting platform. The initial scope concentrated on data warehouse modeling, ETL architecture and the development of SSIS packages to support cube processing and operational reporting.
The implementation configured core Microsoft BI components, including SQL Server Integration Services for extraction transformation and loading, SQL Server Analysis Services for multidimensional cube development, and SQL Server Reporting Services for dashboard and KPI delivery. Deliverables included prototype cube units, complex SSRS reports and Excel 2007 consumption patterns, plus explicit modeling of measure groups, partitions and usage aggregation to support analytical queries.
Integration work emphasized end to end design development and deployment of SSIS SSAS and SSRS, with SSIS used to populate the DB OLAP structures in SSAS and to facilitate Cognos cube and report migration into the Microsoft BI environment. ETL design used SSIS Transact SQL and Management Studio to extract from heterogeneous sources and to support partition processing and incremental data loads in SSAS.
Governance and capability transfer were part of the program, including five weeks of workshops delivered at two hours per week on SSAS cube development best practices and SSRS reporting techniques. Dimensional modeling advanced many to many dimensions user hierarchies referenced relationships and role playing dimensions, introduced currency conversion for multi currency data, and used MDX to implement aggregations calculating averages accumulating totals navigating hierarchies and time based metrics, while SSRS report design development and deployment completed the delivery pipeline.

In 2024, Couche-Tard implemented RELEX Supply Chain across its North American operations. The deployment targets Circle K and Couche-Tard locations in the United States and Canada and positions RELEX Supply Chain as a unified Supply Chain Management solution to bring AI and machine-learning planning into store-level operations.
The implementation configures RELEX Supply Chain modules for demand forecasting, automated replenishment, and advanced space and floor planning. RELEX Supply Chain will use machine-learning forecasting models tuned to individual store profiles, replenishment orchestration to automate store orders, and space planning capabilities to evolve merchandising and assortment decisions.
Operational coverage explicitly spans inventory management, merchandising, and store operations across North America, aligning replenishment pipelines with local demand patterns. The program integrates into Couche-Tard’s merchandising and replenishment workflows and streamlines internal processes to enable tailored forecasting and more efficient day-to-day inventory control.
Governance and rollout are structured as a continent-level program that centralizes forecasting models while permitting store-level configuration, building on RELEX’s relationship with Couche-Tard dating to a 2017 European deployment. Expected outcomes stated by the parties include optimized inventory levels, significant reductions in out-of-stocks, improved merchandising effectiveness and internal team efficiency, and enhanced customer satisfaction and overall store performance.
