In 2022, DBK Germany implemented Infor CloudSuite Automotive after a cyberattack in October 2021 disabled its on-premises ERP landscape. The deployment to Infor CloudSuite Automotive achieved go-live within three weeks, establishing a SaaS software suite for company management hosted in Amazon Web Services data centres in Germany to meet European data protection and security requirements.
The implementation focused on standard functional coverage of an Automotive ERP, mapping numerous custom modifications into the product standard to reduce bespoke code and surface area for vulnerabilities. Infor CloudSuite Automotive was configured to provide core company management and production support capabilities, with the platform positioned to enable business intelligence analyses and external supplier interfaces in subsequent phases.
Operational recovery and technical architecture were executed under tight security controls, with a multidisciplinary crisis team of IT administrators, security and migration experts rebuilding the environment from scratch and restoring a backup saved days before the attack. The recovery used computers operated in isolation from networks to sanitize imported data, a two week build of the new system followed by one week of extensive testing, and phased reconnection of more specialised areas to resume production and delivery operations.
Governance emphasized structured project management and controlled security processes during the fast turnaround, with DBK leadership attributing avoidance of severe economic losses to the effort. Standardization within Infor CloudSuite Automotive reduced the need for costly individual configurations and removed additional operational vulnerabilities, while the SaaS hosting model enables user decoupling between the internal company network and the company software.
