In 2021, Detailk2 deployed Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its ERP Financial system to centralize treasury and core accounting operations. The implementation targeted Finance functions at the Canada-based retailer with roughly 70 employees, using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to support AP, AR and GL workflows and treasury controls.
Configuration emphasized Treasury and Payables capabilities, including financial planning and cash flow forecasting, accounts payable automation, accounts receivable management, general ledger processing, and month end accruals and reconciliations. The implementation also included vendor onboarding and credit management workflows, payment approval and release controls for ACH, EFT and wire disbursements, and reporting used to finalize P and L and balance sheet statements. Staff training on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was conducted as part of the rollout.
Operational integrations and coverage were oriented around banking and tax operations as described in internal finance duties. Reconciliation of financing accounts with banks on a monthly cadence and approval of all bank payments were implemented alongside processes to arrange post shipment buyer loans and receivables financing, and preparation and filing of online GST HST tax returns was incorporated into reporting and compliance routines. The solution supported the finance organization including Treasury, Payables and P2P, and Accounting departments that report to the President.
Governance and process controls were formalized through weekly finance team meetings, a payment approval gate operated by treasury, review and confirmation of new vendor setups and credit applications, and documented month end close activities. A Manager Treasury Payables and P2P led the effort between September 2021 and November 2021 and ran training, issue resolution and process change communication for each team member to stabilize the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP Financial deployment.
