In 2012, Diageo Australia implemented Workday HCM as part of a global Workday deployment covering more than 70 countries. The implementation targeted Core HR capabilities and a broad set of HR functional areas to unify people data and core workforce processes across regional and global HR operations.
Workday HCM was configured to support Core HR, Position management, Talent, Recruiting, Organisation effectiveness, and Payroll functional modules. The team created calculated fields and built custom reports within Workday HCM to meet local and global HR reporting and data model requirements, and documented business requirements and functional specifications to guide configuration and testing.
Integrations were a focal point of the program, with the project leading integrations development and data reconciliations between Workday HCM and key global systems such as SAP Finance and ServiceNow. Workday self service integration tools, including the core connector, were used to build, configure, test and deploy custom integrations, with test scripts developed for integration validation and third parties managed to deliver Workday Studio integration elements.
Governance and operational readiness activities included developing training materials for Business As Usual support teams, delivering training to global audiences via webex, supporting customer queries, and managing steering groups with regular meetings to keep stakeholders informed about integration activities. The engagement delivered the defined scope on time and in budget, establishing Workday HCM as the central Core HR platform for Diageo Australia and its participation in the global rollout.
