BeyondTrust Legacy BeyondTrust Remote Support Remote Monitoring and Management ITSM n/a 2017 2020
In 2017, Digital Health and Care Wales began using Bomgar, now BeyondTrust Remote Support, under an initial contract to strengthen remote IT assistance for primary care. BeyondTrust Remote Support was adopted as a Remote Monitoring and Management tool to provide secure remote access across NHS Wales support channels. The initial contract established the application within healthcare IT support for GPs and practice staff across Wales, with operations managed at the Wales regional level. During the COVID-19 pandemic the organisation executed a rapid, large scale rollout to onboard hundreds of practices in weeks, enabling GPs and practice staff to work remotely. Configuration focused on centralized session orchestration and agent distribution to practice endpoints, with session initiation, secure remote control, and role based access controls implemented to align with clinical support workflows. Multi factor authentication integration was completed to harden remote access and to support secure sign on for remote support sessions. The deployment operated across Wales within healthcare and IT support functions, serving general practice sites and regional support teams and sustaining continuity of patient care. BeyondTrust Remote Support was integrated into existing support workflows to enable incident based and proactive remote troubleshooting across distributed practice endpoints. Governance emphasized rapid onboarding processes and operational handover to regional IT support teams, with rollout sequencing prioritized by practice readiness and support demand. The implementation delivered measurable improvements in remote access and continuity of patient care as reported in the case study, supporting sustained remote working for clinicians and practice staff.
