The small professional services firm with approximately 10 employees and practice areas spanning estate planning, bankruptcy, family law, business law, and tax preparation tasked a Regional Business Manager to modernize operations and reduce administrative overhead so attorneys could focus on legal work. The implementation of CARET Legal centralized core functional modules including client and matter management, integrated timekeeping, invoicing, calendar, and email under a single login. The project required structured data migration and mapping from four distinct source systems, Amicus Attorney, Timeslips, Clio, and PracticePanther, and included a parallel trial period to validate mappings and user workflows before full cutover. Configuration work included customizing invoice templates by office and matter type and enabling navigation options to support both frequent and occasional users. Integration work emphasized CARET Legal’s Microsoft interoperability, aligning with the firm’s existing Microsoft 365 tools and Teams based VoIP, so calendar and email sync occurred directly inside the new platform. The firm retained familiarity with Amicus Attorney because it had been used historically, and CARET Legal’s platform continuity helped shorten the user learning curve. Timekeeping was rearchitected from a remote, single PC entry model to direct time entry inside CARET Legal, removing the previous single point of failure tied to a dedicated machine. Governance and roll out relied on a pragmatic, hands on approach suitable for a small firm without a dedicated IT department, with the Regional Business Manager attending vendor training and leading internal coaching. Diller & Rice worked directly with the CARET Legal team to map data and stage cutover, and the parallel run reduced disruption while staff adopted new workflows. Flexible navigation and role oriented access were emphasized to accommodate partners, assistants, and occasional users across offices. Since the 2024 deployment, CARET Legal serves as the firm’s centralized system for client information, timekeeping, invoicing, and scheduling, and calendar and email integration has streamlined the office manager’s daily work. Attorneys and staff now enter time and manage matters in the same platform, which reduced the synchronization issues and missed entries caused by fragmented tools.
