In 2019 Distinction Hotels implemented Lauranka Time Clock, deploying biometric fingerscan readers as part of a Time and Attendance rollout. The program began with a successful pilot at the Rotorua property and was expanded to multiple Distinction Hotels across New Zealand after validating device reliability and time capture workflows.
Lauranka Time Clock was configured for biometric authentication and standard timekeeping capabilities, serving as the authoritative attendance source for hourly staff. The deployment included on-premises fingerscan terminals and vendor provisioning, with the solution producing payroll-ready time records and shift-level attendance data for HR operations.
The solution integrated directly with the groups IMS payroll system using direct payroll exports to transfer timesheet data, removing manual payroll import steps. Operational coverage spanned HR and payroll teams plus front-line operational staff at multiple hotel sites, centralizing time collection and payroll feeding into a single process.
Rollout followed a pilot then phased expansion model that standardized time capture and export procedures across properties. Per the vendor reference Distinction Hotels reduced manual payroll import work and lowered administrative costs by using Lauranka Time Clock direct payroll exports.
