In 2015, Dubai Police deployed Micro Focus IDOL as an Analytics and BI application to power a mobile ANPR and analytics solution that automatically identifies and tracks wanted vehicles across the Emirates, providing near-real-time updates to patrol cars. Vendor materials reference the deployment as OpenText IDOL and describe it as serving law enforcement and public safety use cases in the United Arab Emirates.
The implementation emphasized video and image analytics capabilities within Micro Focus IDOL, including automated license plate recognition workflows, pattern matching against watch lists, and event-level indexing to support rapid query and alerting. IDOL was configured to process high-throughput camera feeds and to deliver actionable alerts to mobile endpoints, aligning analytics ingestion, indexing, and search functions with operational response workflows.
Operational integrations included high-performance CCTV and ANPR camera feeds and mobile communications to patrol vehicles, covering multiple sites across the Emirates as part of routine law enforcement operations. The deployment linked real-time sensor ingestion with in-vehicle update channels to shorten detection to notification cycles for field officers, supporting situational awareness and coordinated response.
The rollout was developed with Zenith Gulf Security Systems and delivered with system integration by Zenith Technologies, reflecting a joint vendor and integrator model for on-site capture, analytics tuning, and mobile delivery. Project governance focused on aligning IDOL indexing and alert rules with police watch lists and patrol procedures, and the deployment provided faster response and improved situational awareness as described in customer materials.
