In 2016, eHealth Africa implemented Sage Business Cloud X3 (ex Sage ERP X3) as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment focused on the finance division and was coordinated with Country finance managers, local finance staff, and Country Directors to standardize core financial workflows across country offices.
Sage Business Cloud X3 was configured to support core modules including Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, the monthly book close process, Payroll, and project budget tracking, with automation applied to regular transaction processing and reconciliation tasks. Functional workstreams emphasized configuration of accounting flows, controls for transaction processing, and the establishment of key performance metrics tied to those modules.
The program included detailed analysis of local processes to identify and prioritize process improvement projects, and the team developed a project roadmap and detailed work plans for activities run with country finance teams. The implementation assessed and strengthened eHealth Africa ability to successfully undergo an external audit and embedded KPI instrumentation to measure the impact of project activities over time.
Governance and change activities included targeted training and coaching to reinforce desired team behaviors, systematic identification of opportunities for performance improvement, and rollout sequencing aligned with country finance capabilities. Recommended and implemented process improvements were explicitly aimed at enhancing the timeliness, accuracy, and cost of executing regular business processes, and performance measurement was instituted to track those improvements.
