In 2013 Ewart Offshore Investments implemented IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence to establish a centralized Analytics and BI capability supporting corporate finance and owner reporting at its Singapore headquarters. The deployment was targeted at monthly management reporting and controller reporting, with the senior finance manager preparing the monthly management reporting pack for the CEO and owners and coordinating budget reviews with the asset manager.
IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence was implemented and administered alongside TM1 and an instance of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, forming a finance reporting and planning stack used for consolidation, scheduled report distribution, ad hoc analysis, and controller-level reporting. Configuration work emphasized financial reporting templates, scheduled extracts for month end packs, and analytic dashboards that align with the group budgeting and year end workflows.
Operational ownership rested with the senior finance function, which also liaised with external auditors and tax advisors on year end and fund exit matters and partnered with the asset manager on yearly budget submissions. Governance focused on embedded reporting procedures and recurring monthly packs delivered to senior management, aligning BI output with audit and tax review requirements.
