The implementation supported onboarding specialists and hiring managers in initiating background, drug, and medical screenings while capturing required licenses and certifications to satisfy company and site requirements.
Sterling Background Check was configured to orchestrate screening workflows across Sterling One and Sterling Direct, and to exchange screening status with the company HRIS, Workday. Functional capability coverage included screening orchestration, drug and medical screening initiation, document collection and verification, candidate communications and status tracking, and automated status handoffs into Workday to keep candidate records current.
Governance for the deployment centered on Onboarding Specialists functioning as primary points of contact for candidates, generating offer packets and employment agreements, initiating required screens, following up with candidates and hiring managers, and educating managers on hiring steps. The People Operations team maintained process controls for certificate and license collection and for site-level compliance checks, with the Sterling Background Check configuration embedded into existing onboarding workflows to enforce screening and documentation policies.
