In 2010, Fabdec implemented Infor Fourth Shift ERP. The Manufacturing ERP deployment was applied to Fabdec's warehouse and dispatch operations at the Grange Road Ellesmere site, supporting day to day stock control and dispatch workflows used by store operatives.
The implementation centered on inventory and warehouse functionality within Infor Fourth Shift ERP, including stock booking, picking and packing workflows, routine stock taking, product identification, and packing list and labelling capabilities. Configuration covered rules for booking items into the Fourth Shift database, stock counting procedures used by store personnel, and packing workflows that supported assembly of installation kits during periods of increased dispatch activity.
Operational use included direct interaction with the Fourth Shift database to record receipts and update stock on hand, and recording transport details into a transport database as part of outbound processing. The solution was also used to download daily production schedules to guide picking for water heater dispatch, enabling coordination between store staff and shop floor production personnel for kit assembly and palletising.
Governance and process controls were implemented at the operational level, with documented procedures for stock taking to maintain stock accuracy, picking and packing checks to ensure correct quantities and items, and transport booking processes for consignments. Day to day operational scope covered stores, dispatch, logistics coordination, and close liaison with production staff, with store operatives executing record keeping, labelling, palletising, and loading duties under the Infor Fourth Shift ERP driven workflows.
