In 2010, Fane Valley implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX as its ERP Financial system. The Dynamics AX deployment coincided with commissioning of an £18 million state-of-the-art compounding feed mill opened in 2010, providing a single ERP Financial backbone for production accounting and control integration across the new facility.
Microsoft Dynamics AX was configured to support core financial management together with inventory and production control capabilities, aligning financial ledgers with material flow and batch processing workflows. The configuration emphasized production order tracking, inventory valuation for feed ingredients and finished goods, and transactional integration between shop floor events and financial postings.
The control architecture at the mill used Wago PLCs with ASI bus and Altivar inverters for intake, blending, four pellet press lines and two bulk out-loading bays, these input/output systems were linked to the ERP layer. DSL Systems delivered the control solution and handled the systems integration to Microsoft Dynamics AX, while Sysco Software Solutions served as the Microsoft Dynamics AX implementation partner for ERP Financial configuration and rollout.
Operational governance centered on production and operations functions at the feed mill, with system capture of shop-floor telemetry feeding inventory and production processes in Dynamics AX. William McAusland, Production Director, Fane Valley Feeds stated, "DSL was selected based on the fact that they use the latest technology which is regarded as the best available." The installation date is recorded as 2010, and the deployment focused on aligning control systems and ERP Financial processes for manufacturing operations.
