| Ironclad | Legacy | Ironclad Workflow Designer | Apps Development, Robotic Process Automation | PaaS | n/a | 2018 | 2018 | In 2018, Fitbit implemented Ironclad Workflow Designer to build and deploy a consent tracking workflow for research participants, using Ironclad Workflow Designer within an Apps Development,Robotic Process Automation context. The initiative targeted a legal operations and R&D research consent use case in the United States, focusing on participant onboarding and study workflow acceleration. Fitbit configured a consent tracking and contract orchestration workflow using the visual workflow design canvas, enabling design to deploy in under two hours. Configuration emphasized contract generation, automated routing and approval logic, and template-driven form capture to standardize study consent documentation and reduce manual handoffs. Integrations were implemented with e signature tools to close the signature step and accelerate study workflows, with Ironclad Workflow Designer serving as the orchestration layer between intake, legal review, and signature capture. The deployment covered legal operations and research teams responsible for participant onboarding and consent documentation across US studies. Governance was structured under legal operations and R&D, which managed workflow templates, approval rules and version control to ensure consistent consent language and auditability. The rollout approach prioritized rapid iteration and reuse of the consent workflow for new studies to minimize configuration time for future protocols. Outcomes recorded with Ironclad Workflow Designer include enabling design to deploy in under two hours, automating 1,261 workflows since September 2018, and achieving average contract completion under 10 days, outcomes that directly accelerated participant onboarding and study execution. |
