In 2016 Forterra PLC implemented Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as an ERP Financial program, initiating a multi-site JDE 9.2 deployment. The project kicked off in October 2016 and ran through June 2018, covering Forterra operations in Northampton and Peterborough and targeting core back office and shop floor processes.
Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne was configured to deliver Finance, Procurement, Inventory, Manufacturing, Sales, and Transport capabilities, with JDE 9.2 serving as the application baseline. Configuration work emphasized financial ledgers, accounts payable and receivable, procurement requisition to payment workflows, inventory valuation and warehouse transaction processing, discrete manufacturing work order management, and sales order to cash flows.
The implementation standardized transactional workflows across finance and operational domains to unify transactional data and process orchestration, aligning plant floor manufacturing execution with inventory and procurement processes. Functionally the deployment addressed end to end processes for the finance department, procurement teams, inventory and warehouse operations, manufacturing sites, sales order management, and transport planning within the ERP Financial footprint.
Governance was executed through a programme management structure led by a Programme Manager for the JDE upgrade, coordinating configuration, testing and phased rollout activities across finance, procurement, manufacturing and distribution functions. Rollout sequencing was aligned to finance close cycles and production schedules to reduce operational disruption across the Northampton and Peterborough sites.
