In 2023, FC Barcelona deployed Stats Perform Opta as a Predictive Analytics capability to support fan engagement and club media operations in Spain. The deployment targeted a season-long content program, converting matchday Opta goal-sequence data into the Best Built Goal sponsor series for Stanley Tools across the 2023/24 season. The implementation focused on delivering automated, event-driven content for matchdays and creating new commercial inventory for the club.
FC Barcelona ingested Opta event feeds via OptaAI Studio and used Opta Graphics to transform goal-sequence data into automated visuals and assets ready for publishing. Functional capabilities implemented included event sequencing, automated graphic generation, template-driven content orchestration and content workflow automation to produce sponsor branded outputs at scale. These capabilities were embedded into club media production pipelines to standardize sponsor creative and programmatic content delivery.
Operational scope covered club media and commercial sponsorship teams in Spain, with the rollout aligned to season match schedules and consistent delivery across fixtures. The campaign generated 229M+ impressions and 10.5M+ engagements, demonstrating measurable sponsor reach and enabling the club to monetize Opta-derived content as commercial inventory. Governance emphasis was placed on integrating Opta derived outputs into editorial and sponsorship approval workflows to maintain brand and sponsor compliance.

In 2020, FC Barcelona implemented the Chiliz Chain to issue the Barça Fan Token as part of a global blockchain alliance announced in February 2020. The deployment used Chiliz Chain as the Blockchain Platform to power fan engagement, CRM and marketing activities for the club's global fanbase.
The implementation centered on fan-token issuance and the Socios.com fan-voting and rewards experience, with smart contract-driven token minting and on-chain ledger management inferred from public announcements. Functional capabilities described include token issuance and management, vote gating for fan engagement events, and on-chain reward distribution tied to marketing workflows.
Socios.com acted as the consumer-facing engagement and CRM layer, enabling fan voting, rewards fulfillment and fan segmentation that linked on-chain events to marketing campaigns. Operational scope specified a global fanbase, and the business functions impacted were fan engagement, CRM and marketing.
Governance and rollout details reflected a fixed supply issuance approach, with 40 million Barça Fan Tokens made available and substantial token sales reported during the initial offering. Chiliz Chain remained the underlying Blockchain Platform for token custody and fan-voting records, establishing on-chain governance touchpoints for ongoing fan engagement programs.
